What I enjoy about my career is helping individuals facilitate positive changes in their daily lives. While it can appear to be a scary or intimidating process, I hope to guide, teach, and empower individuals to overcome their hardships. I am dedicated to meeting individuals where they are, considering individual’s cultural needs, and validating the strengths made throughout the therapeutic process.
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Education in Mental Health Counseling and Counseling Education from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. The majority of my work has been in community mental health, where I have worked in various settings such as residential, community support teams, and individual counseling. I have also supervised Bachelor-level mental health professionals, helping them develop their identity and practice as they prepare graduate school. In addition to group facilitation at Clarity Clinic, I am an Intake Specialist for the Front Door Diversion Program at Thresholds.
I use an electic approach when working with individuals, using modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and client-centered therapies. I have worked with a variety of populations, including adults with severe mental health diagnoses, community mental health, and adolescents. I understand the importance of including family members and medical providers to advocate for appropriate services. My professionalinterests include mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, grief and loss, life transitions, harm reduction, and crisis services. I also have experience facilitating DBT groups, Moral Reconation Therapy, and Substance Use IOP groups.
In my personal life, I engage in self-care practices that include hot yoga, hiking, and cooking.
