I recognize how difficult it can be to open yourself up to another person and begin talking about the imperfect aspects of life. In every session, I strive to create a nonjudgmental and comfortable space where our time together can used in a way that is most beneficial to your personal growth and well-being.
Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, I moved to Chicago for my undergraduate studies at Loyola University Chicago, where I played on the men’s soccer team and earned a B.S. in Psychology. Following this, I gained invaluable experience at a psychiatric hospital on Chicago’s west side, working with individuals of all ages. Currently in my fourth year at Roosevelt University, I hold an M.A. and am pursuing a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. Throughout my doctoral training, I have provided therapy at A Safe Haven Foundation, working extensively with clients who had experienced trauma, substance use, and homelessness. Additionally, I have provided psychological assessment for clients at Clarity Clinic, enhancing my understanding of concentration difficulties and trauma/mood disorders.
My approach to therapy is grounded in an Interpersonal and Relational lens, emphasizing the impact of past and present relationships and experiences on our lives and interactions with the world. I also draw from a variety of therapeutic techniques including DBT, CBT, mindfulness-based practice, deep breathing, and exposure therapy, which I customize to meet the unique needs of each person.
As a clinician, my goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can feel empowered to explore their challenges, develop resilience, and cultivate positive change in their lives. I have found humor and a relaxed atmosphere beneficial in building trust with my clients, while also being deeply committed to recognizing the influences of culture and personal identities on who we all are.
