Bio

I find psychological testing and evaluation fascinating, and I have a passion for using these tools to help people improve their lives, learn to function more effectively, or just learn more about themselves. The types of tests I utilize include personality testing (both objective and projective), cognitive, intellectual, achievement, and some neuropsychological testing. By gathering information from many sources, I am able to create a robust and nuanced conceptualization of a patient’s current functioning and clarify diagnoses, which, in turn, helps to guide the patient’s treatment in being more helpful and effective. Accurate diagnosis is vital to effective treatment, and psychological assessment can be incredibly powerful in helping a person to change their life for the better. ​All of this occurs through a strong working relationship with the patient that is built upon empathy, understanding, and authenticity. Once testing is complete, I create a Psychological Report with all of the information from the clinical interview, psychological testing, and other sources (e.g., collateral information), and integrate it into a concise summary that includes my diagnostic impressions and subsequent recommendations. At the end of the evaluation process, I meet with the patient(s) to discuss the results and evaluation report and try to do so in an understandable and empathic way, free of jargon or judgment.

Nearly all of my adult life has been spent in pursuit of my fascination with psychology and learning the multitude of complex skills in this field to help others. I earned my Bachelor of Science in psychology from Northern Michigan University, my Master of Arts in clinical psychology from Argosy University Twin Cities, and completed my Doctor of Psychology in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at a clinic very similar to Clarity Clinic in the Minneapolis area. I have worked with patients of all ages, from young children to older adults, and a huge variety of backgrounds, and I have worked with clients across the spectrum of disorders, diagnoses, and concerns.
