Diagnostic clarification is imperative in one’s treatment and their progress. Through psychological evaluation, I am able to help patients better understand their own cognitive and emotional functioning, as well as how they relate to others and their environment. Being able to communicate each patient’s individual life story that empowers them, as well as their treatment team, is something I strive to achieve.
There may be times when patients find they have been diagnosed with various disorders, have tried several medications, and at times have been left feeling more confused. This is where I enter (the sometimes clouded) picture and, through proper questioning, collaboration, and assessment, the picture becomes clearer. I take my ability to adequately assess and “make it make sense” for each individual very seriously. I find great reward in helping to clarify a patient’s diagnosis and validating their experienced thoughts and feelings. I strive to build the imperative rapport with each patient and bring some comfort and ease into the process.
I have extensive experience in psychological testing, with a specialization in neuropsychological testing. I also specialize in working with middle aged and older adults, including geriatric individuals. I have experience working with a variety of anxiety based disorders, as well as stress management, adjustment difficulties, and depression. I utilize a holistic approach, incorporating healthy habits, such as diet, exercise, and proper sleep hygiene to set the foundation for recovery. Along with this, I use CBT, ACT, and mindfulness modalities to help treat the presenting problems.
