“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy - the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” ― Brené Brown
Hello! I am happy that you are here. I am a psychotherapist but more importantly, a self-love encourager and an advocate for vulnerability. I believe we require less “fixing”, criticism and judgment and more acceptance, self-compassion, and authenticity. I feel honored to be able to witness your journey toward hope and healing and deeply value the wisdom you have within.
In my practice, I work with people who feel suffocated by sadness, anxiety, shame, fear and are struggling to find meaning and feel whole. I will collaboratively guide you toward cultivating more compassion for yourself and creating room for presence, connectedness, and joy. I will help you access your infinite capacity to feel the hard stuff and discover your ability to navigate challenges effectively.
I draw on techniques from evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic and Interpersonal therapy. Using this integrative approach, I help my clients make sense of their past, develop the skills to manage their current stressors effectively, and build a life worth living.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology & Sociology and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University and graduated with academic honors. My clinical experience comes from my work in psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, domestic violence agencies, and private practice. Through this, I have developed a specialty working with adults struggling with chronic psychiatric and personality disorders.
As an immigrant, I have been extensively exposed to diversity in terms of religion, culture, sexuality, ideology, and identity. Therefore, I have a deep understanding of and competence in issues surrounding acculturation, immigration, and assimilation.
