I am passionate about working with individuals and couples seeking support with their mental health and those in search of meaning, connection, self-understanding, or motivation for change.
I received both a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Clinically, I have experience addressing depressive, anxiety, trauma-related, substance-related, psychotic, personality, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
My previous work history includes psychotherapy for veterans, addiction recovery for teens and adults, residential care for teens with histories of trauma, and behavior therapy for children with Autism. My clinical orientation has been molded by this education and clinical experience, but also by my own lived experience. I primarily practice relational therapy, viewing the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for successful treatment.
I know I am not the only client who has decided not to reschedule with a therapist because something felt off in the dynamic, so I take great care not to judge, overstep, or pathologize my clients, and I regularly set aside time for clients to share honestly about what’s working in therapy and what can be improved. I recognize that each client is the expert of themselves, so I will not assume this role. I instead accept clients for who they are, facilitate self-reflection, and pose questions from a place of curiosity and understanding. I tailor treatment to each unique individual or couple I serve rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, and I aim to support clients not only in symptom reduction, but also in finding purpose, identity, and agency.
Ultimately, I believe that healing emerges through attunement with ourselves and others and in examining internalized thoughts and beliefs that hinder our growth. I am committed to aiding clients in the pursuits of their own choosing, at their own pace.
While I primarily practice relational therapy, I also practice other evidence-based modalities depending on my client’s goals and preferences, including CBT, DBT, exposure therapy, and more. Feel free to schedule a consultation call to ask any questions and better determine whether or not I will be a good fit for you at this time.
