In times of crisis, asking for help can be one of the hardest things to do. It is also one of the bravest and most beneficial. I believe that every person adds value to this world, and that everyone is deserving of good mental health. Therapy is an excellent tool to facilitate self-inquiry and self-exploration. Recognizing one's own thought patterns and responses is a skill that will help navigate emotions and experiences in a healthy way, leading you on a path to self-actualization.
I received an undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University in special education, with an emphasis on deaf and hard of hearing. I received a Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling from Bradley University. I have had the privilege of working with all walks of life and a variety of issues. I help facilitate a weekly divorce support group which helped me prepare to counsel those experiencing relationship issues, divorce or separation. I have led support groups for family members of those struggling with addiction and for teen girls focusing on building self-esteem.
Everyone's needs are different, therefore, I utilize individual modalities tailored to the specific person and the specific need. I believe in providing a safe, non-judgmental space to discuss issues while providing empathy and compassion for each individual. I utilize CBT, DBT, mindfulness and existential therapies. I help treat depression, anxiety, relationship issues such as divorce/separation/break-ups, teen issues, crisis management, grief, and the struggles of daily life. I work with teenagers 13+ and adults.
