Since I was a young, I knew that I always wanted to support people on their path to healing. It was not until I started my Masters that I discovered I was naturally skilled and was sure this was the right field for me. I received two undergraduate degrees from Northern Illinois University and graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have experience in the community mental health field, which was not only rewarding but taught me a lot about being a counselor and what it is like to support people on their mental health journey. While working with a wide range of people of different cultural backgrounds and ages, I learned there are so many different ways to help others. I worked with children and adolescents in a school and agency setting and also provided care for adults in person or through telehealth. I also have experience with play therapy for children to help understand and express their emotions. When working with people, I focus on using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a way to approach treatment as well as a Client-Centered approach. I put emphasis on how someone feels in the present moment and also understand how their past effects their current behaviors and understanding. I will always meet the client where they are and focus on what is coming up for them.
