What I love most about my career is showing up every day knowing that therapeutic change is possible. Individuals navigate their lives every day in the best ways they know how, but sometimes life gets to a point where we feel no longer at our best. Empowering individuals while supporting their autonomy establishes a safe and trusting space which I believe to be paramount.
I have my undergraduate degree from Indiana University Southeast and a master’s in clinical psychology from Adler University. Prior to my academic career I was an active-duty member of the United States Army where I fostered my skills as an “on the ground psychologist.” It was then that I discovered the intense need of mental health professionals not only in the military setting, but in our society all together. Having the opportunity to engage with individuals from all walks of life both in the United States and abroad exposed me to life experiences much different than my own.
I specialize in behavioral therapy and use a holistic approach. I am trained in the use of CBT, DBT, ACT, and Adlerian approaches. I am passionate about helping clients identify their values and live a life that is directed towards those values. My specialties include adult anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADHD, grief/bereavement work, and life transition work. I enjoy speaking at conferences when possible, on the topics of: reintegration into social groups, military quality of life, and anxiety/depression of the military experience. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with friends, cooking, watching/playing sports, watching/playing sports, and the theatre.
