Life is meant to be lived to the fullest, so my aim is to keep therapy not only helpful to long-term health but also something to look forward to. I have experience working with children and adolescents, originally aimed at a school counseling license and has informed much of my clinical work. During my internship, a fondness for working with relationships of all kinds took shape, and relationship counseling is becoming a third specialty area.
I am a storyteller before anything else, and a poet in kind. Seeing life as a story in the making for everyone feeds directly into my practice as a Narrative Therapist. A scientific and academic bent draws me to Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy as the second side of my outlook. Those may be the languages of the mind I understand best, but adjusting to the language of the person across from me comes naturally. That is how I became an eclectic sort of counselor, which works well, because my specialties lie with some of the most diverse populations there are.
My methods in the office are as varied as the people I work with. Puppets, plushies, and play therapy often help broaden the conversation, and art and music can let creativity become a path to understanding. While much of my training has been in adolescent therapy, these methods keep me approachable to most folks, since my practice is built around connecting with people who feel like no one else understands them.
