Navigating through life takes a coordinated movement of body, mind, and soul. One part cannot get very far without the others. Connecting and moving forward as a whole can strengthen one’s ability to break through barriers and maximize potential.
In therapy, I strongly believe in the body-mind connection and offer a validating, empathetic, and creative environment. I implement a combination of strengths-based, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and expressive arts therapies to meet clients where they’re at as well as tap into strengths to set and achieve specific personal goals. Whether it’s processing past traumas or working through current challenging situations, I assist clients in building insight, making connections, and shifting perspectives not only in their minds but in their bodies as well. Movement can be done if requested and at the client’s comfort level.
I have worked with clients of all ages in varying levels of care such as inpatient, intensive outpatient, community mental health, and mental health court. Most of my experience is with adults dealing with mood disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma, loss, identity and self-esteem issues, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues, and relationship problems. I have also worked with youth and teens dealing with depression, anxiety, identity issues, family problems, and difficulties in school. I received my Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling at Columbia College-Chicago and my Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor and board-certified dance movement therapist.
