Divya received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University. As a queer individual of color, she understands that systemic issues and stigmatization make reaching out for support a daunting task and engaging in vulnerability by sharing emotions and discussing past experiences can be uncomfortable.
As a therapist, she works to foster a sense of safety, trust, and nurturing to assist clients with finding their most authentic self. She is passionate about exploring how experiences and cultural backgrounds shape identities. She is committed to a trauma-informed and multiculturally-inclusive approach.
She uses a Dialectic Behavioral Therapy approach due to the emphasis on it has on building a life that feels worth living. "We may not be able to change the situation we are in, but we can develop the skills and resilience to meet life's challenges."
