I believe in the need to break the stigma of mental illness and encourage everyone to see a mental health professional just as they would see a primary care professional. Asking for help can be a difficult but necessary step for a person’s total well-being. I encourage clients to reach out for help. Having seen clients in some of the most difficult times in their lives has helped me think clearly through stressful times with these clients. I believe that building trust through compassionate, active listening will help a client meet their therapy goals.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience working with different clients in many types of settings. I’ve worked with children and adult clients with disabilities, severe mental illness and mood disorders. My approach to therapy is to work together towards co-created treatment goals dedicated to personal growth and change. I use a client centered approach to therapy. I believe it is important to understand where your client is at and how they understand what is going on in their life. I am a compassionate professional who has a desire to help build nonjudgmental relationships with clients. I encourage personal change and growth within a therapeutic setting. My empathic listening skills encourage openness and mindfulness during the therapeutic setting. I have extensive experience working with crisis situations in the ER and psychiatric setting. In the Emergency room setting, I have seen people when they are in the most need and helped them work through that trauma together.
