Bio

What brings a person to therapy? The answer is going to be different for everyone and it’s not always clear-cut. For a lot of people, it’s because they feel there’s some sort of problem in their life and they want help to fix it. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help or even to talk with someone about personal problems, especially when we’re feeling vulnerable. Whatever the reason is, that person has found themselves looking for a therapist to help them.

I take an integrative approach to help provide the most effective treatment. This way therapy can be tailored to each person’s specific needs. Using an empathetic and non-judgmental stance I will listen and work collaboratively with clients to create a plan and help the person gain the insight and the tools needed to achieve their goals. I draw from Client-Centered and Psychodynamic modalities and incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness, among others.

I’ve worked primarily with adults and have been fortunate to work with people who come from very different backgrounds in a community setting, as well as outpatient, residential, and mandated treatment settings. I have helped clients work through issues such as mood disorders, life transitions, trauma, grief, domestic violence, and anger. My experience also includes working with people who have suicidal thoughts and engaged in self-harming behavior, bipolar disorders, psychosis, and personality disorders. I look forward to helping anyone who enters therapy answer the question of why they are there and do my best to help them improve their quality of life.
