I recognize that the decision to seek therapy is often a difficult one and requires a certain level of self-exposure and vulnerability. I strive to ensure that each of my clients is met with a nonjudgmental, respectful, and safe environment in which they may pursue their self-improvement and wellness. I am dedicated to providing the skills necessary to facilitate this positive change with a compassionate and straightforward approach.
I have devoted much of my career to helping children, adolescents, families, and adult individuals develop higher levels of communication, self-regulation, and coping skills. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy in order to accomplish this, combining elements from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused therapies.
I received my Master of Social Work degree from New York University in 2002. I subsequently spent 15 years working for the Department of Behavioral Health in Washington, DC. I spent 13 of those years as a licensed mental health clinician working with both elementary and middle school-aged students enrolled in the DC public school system. An additional two years were spent working as a licensed mental health clinician at the Department’s child and youth outpatient clinic.
In particular, I have helped children, adolescents, and their families to more effectively address issues related to academic motivation, adjustment disorder, anger management, anxiety, attachment, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism, bipolar disorder, bullying, conduct disorder, depression, grief and loss, LGBTQ issues, life transitions, oppositional defiant disorder, parenting skills, peer relationships, post-traumatic stress disorder, school refusal, self-esteem, social skills, study and organization skills, and trauma.
