There’s no shame in saying you’re not okay, and need help. Therapy can provide the support needed to feel better about ourselves, manage painful emotions, and develop creative solutions to manage life’s complexities.
Through a collaborative and nonjudgmental approach, I aim to help clients identify their problem areas and improve coping skills to pivot towards a more satisfying and successful life. I’m a Chicago native whose passion has always been helping individuals and understanding their unique perspectives. Growing up on the city’s Westside, I saw at an early age the effect untreated mental health/substance use disorders and the lack of available resources had on my community.
I received my B.A. in Sociology from University of Illinois, Chicago with a concentration in Race, Ethnicity, and Gender, and a Master of Social Work degree, concentrating on Mental Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have social service experience treating clientele in outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, corrections, employee assistance programs, and in medical/hospital settings. My experiences have allowed me to develop a unique skill set and demeanor that makes my clients feel comfortable exploring difficult topics, and motivated to explore personal growth and development.
Drawing from humanistic theories, I’m skilled at providing Adult individual counseling using a variety of evidence-based techniques including cognitive-behavioral, motivational, solution-focused, and trauma-informed approaches. My areas of clinical interest include compulsive gambling/investment behaviors, alcohol and substance abuse, mood disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), occupational difficulties, stress management, adjustment disorders, ADD/ADHD, racial Identity, family of origin/relationship issues, life-transitions, and self-esteem.
