Kristen Oberc, MA, LPC

Kristen Oberc is a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. Kristen earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Purdue University Calumet, as well as completed education certification as an Addiction Counselor. Kristen has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in the treatment of anxiety and depression, addiction, trauma, grief and loss, stress management, behavior plans, working with families adjusting to parenting roles, as well as postpartum depression, and insomnia.

Kristen specializes in Cognitive Behavioral-based approaches, including Dialectical and Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Insomnia. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is an action-oriented form of psychosocial therapy that assumes that maladaptive, or faulty, thinking patterns cause maladaptive behavior and negative emotions. Treatment focuses on changing an individual's thoughts in order to change his or her behavior and emotional state.
